Medium weight white linen, it is white so you may want to line with some batiste because there is slight transparency, dress weight but not a super tight weave. The embroidery is a border scalloped along one edge, the quality is excellent. The border stretches for 18" total. The stitching appears to be cotton and looks like cotton. Base is a light habotai with a slight satin finish, semi sheer, floral pattern is denser along the selvedges and wider on one side then becomes more sparse toward the center. A truly spectacular jacquard from Italy. Please look closely at the floral motif, it has dimensional layers and is indented into the base which is a black with gold specs showing through with some texture it is heavier kind of malleable like a duchess satin. All you need is a waistband and some tights to make this happen. Both sides are usable, crisp but with some softness, sheer stripes with raised satin floral printed stripes that run crossgrain. You can underline and make an evening suit jacket or gather for a skirt/dress. maybe a bustier. This does not feel like a synthetic at all!
