The price has gone up because we are adding more support and communication to this session.  Welcome to the Couture Party Skirt Class taught on zoom with Barbie McCormick. We are super excited to bring these sewing skills to the community. Each class will be dedicated to lecture, demonstration, and questions. Students will complete the work independently between sessions. The goal is for everyone to finish a skirt. You can construct a sample or muslin if you like, I just ask that we are working together with the goal of completing the process together. Please purchase the skirt prior to class. You can cancel 4 days before with a refund minus 3% or transfer to another no problem. There are no recordings. If you cannot make a class we can fill you in. Please take notes during class. One week before class everyone will receive the zoom links and any special supplies you may need to prepare for, regarding zoom please test your connection prior to class. Overview of couture sewing techniques used. Using Half Scale forms:Demonstration/ walk through of tracing off the muslin and assembly of the muslin.    Using the pleat staysBasic fitting guidelines for the muslin. Demo on fitting yourself, checking for level waist, length of skirt.Overview of different types of hair braid, twill tape, zippers, underlinings.Sewing in adjustments, verifying that the muslin is correct, marking new lines.  Class 2) Picking your fabricPairing your underliningUsing Half Scale FormsTracing corrected pattern to underlining, cuttingThread tracing underlining to fashion fabricAssembling the skirt front and skirt backProper pressing, trimming, and grading of seams    Options for seam finishes- pinking, overcasting, hongkong, etcUsing pleat stay to pleat skirt front and skirt backSewing side seamsPin/ Baste hairbraid in hem, pin hem for fitting. Mesh elastic 11 cord  for creating shirred gathers. Nice for pull on waistbands in lighter fabrics like rayon crepes or georgettes. Always interesting for creative details.
