Italian cotton blend shirting, light weight but opaque, the weave is a very tiny twill with a subtle sateen finish. Perfect for shirts and dresses especially ones that wrap tight with gathers - this has quite a bit of stretch to it. Also trim out the collars and cuffs with a contrast. Every year I like to stock a new iteratation of a classic white shirting. I am so happy to have found this. The base is like lightweight but crisp semi sheer THEN woven into it are little ribbed sateen tucks that provide opacity and a sculptural body. I absolutely love this. There is a special machine that makes this, it's a mystery, the base is a nice medium weight crisp cotton with good body for many types of garments, shirts, dresses, skirts, then there are little rayon ribbons with one edge woven into the fabric so it looks kind of like a satin tuck, you cannot tell on the opposite side. Loro Piana deadstock, a beautiful soft draping linen shirting, the weave is fine but not super tight, it has a subtle slub, there is a slight transparency, perfect for tank tops. This is a top summer linen shirting. Red woven pinstripes with a warm white base. Width: 60" 92% linen, 8% cotton made in Italy
